Hey Deanie,

Web 2.0 applications are mind-blogging! There are so many free apps out there that it is just so hard to determine which one would best "fit" into the curriculum you are teaching! Loved the Baskin-Robbins thingy! :)

A teacher cannot use ALL of the ones you have encountered in this course, and she/he will need to decide just which one(s) are best for their students' learning. Teachers, I think, need to focus on how the apps will engage their students and help them learn, and of course, meet the GPS. (And, there is the "time factor" and it comes up in EVERYTHING! "I don't have time to do project-based learning", etc.) What's the answer? I really don't have an answer! Just think about those schools that are teaching from a script! They have no time whatsoever to incorporate these great Web 2.0 tool into their classrooms!

Woe is me! I could go on and on, but I will stop ranting for now! I don't even want to go there with NCLB or Testing!!!! :)

Deanie,
Don't you find the same words and phrases being overused in most presentations? I loved a statement in your summary. I never hear it said this way before. "Schools need to manage technology as if it were oxygen - ubiquitous, necessary and invisible." I am glad I read your blog to hear it said this way!

Deanie - I am totally with you. . . I have always considered myself tech savvy, but I can't believe there is an entire Online Conference that I could be attending. I really enjoyed the presentation that I listened to and hope to find time to go back listen to more exciting topics.

Check out my blog if you have time. http://phyfeworld.edublogs.org/

Deanie!!! You are ROCKIN IT with Web 2.0!!! Your teachers are going to buy you a vacation next year!! I am excited about your wiki class and would be sooo happy to share anything I have related to wiki world as you design the class. I really don't think Flickr is totally on the block list because if it is I will have to stage a small protest!!!

I agree with you, Deanie. I can talk a blue streak, but when it comes to writing... the words they seem to escape me.
